Everyone knows about Facebook and Twitter, but what you might not know is that there are a plethora of smaller niche social networks aimed at certain groups such as men, women, teens even small business owners from certain states and cities. For example the female demographic has quite a number of good and active social networks to choose from that have been around for a few years or so. When you take a look at sites like Fabulously 40 this is a network aimed at women over 40 with the content and marketing matching the niche.
We went looking for other similar networks but aimed at women business owners and below are our top four picks. Have a look and let me know if you agree, disagree or care to share a different network altogether. If so, share it below in the comment area.
1. Blog Her
Although this network isn’t targeted at women business owners per se, it can absolutely fill the niche and serve any female business owner. Blog Her is actually an annual conference aimed at female bloggers with the online network serving as the social component for conference attendees. The website for Blog Her is part hub, part network but all 100% women specific. If you’re looking to mix and mingle with other females that tend to be online or work on the web, this is a great network to join and become a member of. There are varied topics so should have a little something for everyone and most niches.
2. Project Eve
This is a newcomer on the scene that specifically targets female business owners and was created by and for women, specifically two best friends. When you join Project Eve you’re joining a network of smart female entrepreneurs who wish to collaborate and support other women influencers. You. The social network is free to join and there are a number of areas you might be interested in, such as; blogs, events, forum and even a publisher platform where blog owners can earn money for promoting their favorite brands. Project Eve is a great social destination for female business owners.
3. Pinterest
By now you’ve probably heard of Pinterest, the image based social network. However it is relatively new and not everyone is on it, like they are on Facebook or Twitter. If you have yet to hop on Pinterest, give it a whirl and see what new discoveries you can make in one week and how you can use it to promote your business, service or products. Since this is an image heavy and image centric spot, photos will be super important in your content marketing strategy. Every blog post, press release and article you put out, should have a clear large and enticing photo accompanying it. Then friend or follow as many Pinners in your niche as you can and start the conversation here as you would any other social network. Happy pinning.
4. BBWO
BBWO stands for Black Business Women Online and as the name suggests this is a network for African American women. If you seek to mix and mingle with other ladies in this demographic, this is the space for you. It’s a place to support and get companionship from other women who need the same from you. It’s run by women for women. We like this network because it’s quite active and has many areas of interest which makes for a fun business hub to visit on a regular basis.
Which of the four social networks above appealed to you the most and why? Do share and tell me below in the comment area. And if you have one you care to mention, do so below as well.

Thanks for the tip about Project Eve! I joined and in only a few minutes felt right at home and learned a lot. Looking forward to making all sorts of connections to help others and to build my business.
Interesting read. I believe Facebook and Twitter have become very common and known to all, rightly as you have mentioned. Pinterest with 95% women base initially is an interesting opportunity to network for these women.
And I got to know about the other 3 for the first time!
Hi, Wanda:
Glad you found my article helpful and that Project Eve sounds like a great networking resource for you.
