The Direct Marketing Association is launching a first ever Search Marketing certification program for agency and in-house marketers. This announcement is sure to drum up some buzz in the search marketing industry. It also shows how online marketing has become so entrenched today in a complete and diversified marketing program.

I think this is long overdue no matter what you think of “seo certification”. Don’t know how it will play out especially since SEMPO is coming out with one too but it can’t hurt. It might not matter to most but mixed with experience a certificate can indicate at least some basic training in the skills and practices. We shall see!
